Brian Moriarty
Since 1998, Moriarty’s Cleveland-based independent private legal practice has incorporated a wide variety of Ohio law, with extensive jury trial experience in both civil and criminal cases. His reach is broad and accomplished—from death penalty cases to personal injury, OVI defense and business litigation.
Experience
For eight years, Moriarty served as Magistrate for Rocky River Municipal Court, presiding over cases involving criminal and traffic offenses, small claims, civil claims and landlord-tenant issues. For six years, Moriarty served as Prosecutor for the City of North Ridgeville, where he prosecuted misdemeanor offenses with extensive exposure to drug and Ohio OVI cases. Brian has presided as Magistrate for North Ridgeville Mayors Court for over the last eight years and has been recently appointed as Law Director for the City of North Ridgeville.
Moriarty is also active in the West Shore Bar Association, the Polish National Alliance, as well as the Northeast Ohio Fallen Heroes and Greater Cleveland Police Scholarship Fund.
Moriarty is a Cleveland native; he earned his undergraduate degree from Baldwin-Wallace College and his Juris Doctorate from Cleveland Marshall College of Law. He is the recipient of the Cleveland Marshall Howard Stein Award. He has served as a guest speaker at the National Labor Convention in Las Vegas.
Moriarty is married with three children. In his free time, he plays guitar in a classic rock band.

Civil
Accomplished in many aspects of Ohio civil law, from personal injury and medical malpractice cases, to employment law, business law to antitrust violations.
Criminal
Broad-based criminal practice, from misdemeanor to major felony offenses. Practice in all courts of record, including the municipal courts, courts of common pleas, courts of appeal, the Ohio State Supreme Court, United States District Court, the United States Court of Appeal for the Sixth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. Range of representation includes pretrial discovery, motion practice, plea negotiations, trial, and post-trial practice.
Labor
Since 1994, has represented the Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association and individual officers throughout the State of Ohio. Representation includes contract negotiations, arbitration of disputes arising under the Police collective bargaining agreement, appeals to the State Employment Relations Board, and non-contractual claims dispute. General Counsel for the Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association, representing over 1200 officers in Cleveland since 2015.
Appellate
Extensive experience in drafting appellate briefs and engaging in oral argument at all levels of appellate courts throughout the state of Ohio. Participated in en banc hearing before entire Sixth Circuit Panel for capital murder case. Also experienced with the administrative appellate process.
